Oakwood 4–4 Met Police

In a dramatic encounter full of twists and controversy, Oakwood were forced to settle for a 4–4 draw against Met Police after a last-gasp equaliser deep into added time.

The home side started slowly and found themselves 2–0 down early on, conceding two sloppy goals on what was described as one of the worst pitches many had seen in a long time. Despite the early setback, Oakwood continued to play football and were rewarded when midfield maestro Leo Newton pulled one back with a superb free-kick from outside the box.

The first half’s major talking point came moments later when Harry Morley powered home a brilliant header, only for the assistant referee to raise his flag for offside after the ball had hit the net. The decision stood, much to Oakwood’s frustration, and the sides went into the break with Met Police leading 2–1 — though Oakwood remained confident they could turn things around.

That belief showed in the second half. Oakwood came out looking in total control, and after a smart pass from Jake, Morley finally got his deserved goal to level the score at 2–2. The momentum stayed with Oakwood, and some neat play around the box led to Leo Newton unleashing another of his trademark left-foot strikes to make it 3–2.

However, Met Police refused to go away, hitting back with a long-range effort to level at 3–3 just six minutes later. Oakwood restored their lead with five minutes to play when Coco Matthews threaded a perfect pass through for Lukas, who coolly finished to make it 4–3.

As the clock ticked past full time, uncertainty surrounded the amount of added time. Despite repeated questions from both benches, the referee appeared unsure — and in the sixth minute of stoppage time, Met Police struck again to snatch a 4–4 draw and break Oakwood hearts.

A strange and eventful match ended level, but Oakwood will take plenty of positives — particularly their attacking spirit and resilience — from a game they will feel they should have won
