Oakwood U14 welcomes high flying Ashtead Colts to Tinsley Lane on a beautiful September morning.

The game started with a minutes silence in honour of Chichester City player Billy Vigar, 21, died after suffering a"significant brain injury" while playing an away match at Wingate and Finchley FC.

Oakwood started strong but were unable to get their free flowing football going due to Ashford's tight defence. The Ashford #11 was proving to be a handful for Oakwood's defence but marshalled by H. Thompson in goals they looked secure.

In the 17 minute mintue a break through for the home teams. After the ball was played into the box, Hamza opened his body to fire into the goal via his left foot. A goal Oakwood deserved after a huge level of pressure was put onto the Ashford goal.

5 minutes later and against the run of play, Ashford found themselves back in the game after a strike from outside the box clipped the defender to wrong foot Harry in goal. 1-1 and game on.

Oakwood kept pushing forward and creating a number of chances as L.Newton was once again pulling strings and C. Matthews was everywhere.
On 29 minutes a moment of brilliance from Hamza saw Oakwood take a deserved lead. 25 yards out his curled the ball over the wall and into the goal via his right foot this time.

2-1 just before half time, could Oakwood go on and beat Ashford?

The 2nd half started and Ashford were on the front foot and causing some issues, but clear cut chances were few and far between.

The only major talking point was when the referee got injured and manager K.Ritchie has to take over the duties. The game was on a knife edge and as mush as Ashford were on top they just couldn't get that chance, thanks to a breathe- taking defensive performance from ALL.

The game finished 2-1 and it was the first points dropped from the very impressive Ashford Colts, who remain top of the table. Focus turns to Bookham who did the double over us last year. New faces, New attitude, hopefully a new result.
