Cup run ended under cloud

We travelled to Woodingdean in the 1st round of the cup, looking to continue the fine form from the previous week. A full strength squad was excited to get going, and we started well against a very good Woodingdean side who play in a higher league. We fell behind to a fluke goal when a cross drifted into the net, nothing Ethan could do at all. We were in the game and creating some good chances. Freddie, Niko and Jude were causing problems. Mason Creed again continued his fine start to the season and again Daniel, Theo, Roman and Billy looked solid. We pulled level just before half time when Jude hunted tge ball, causing the defence and keeper to get in a mix and he finished with some quality. At half time the boys were buzzing, we were going toe to toe with a team in a higher league. The 2nd half started and Freddie was driving hard and in the 32 minute he hunted the defence down, crossed for Jude (OG) to put us 2-1 up. We were on the front foot and more good work saw us good work saw us go 3-1 up thanks to Freddie who continued his fine goal return. Were were in control and a crazy 5 minutes saw Woodingdean pull one back before a HUGE reffing blunder saw the pull level. Sadly he thought the line (level 7 ref) wasn't in the best position looking along the line and his view point from the half way line was better place. No extra time played and we went to penalties. The ref again had a helping hand. Standing on the ball, pushing it into the ground. We missed 2 penalties, they missed one so we went out. A tough one to take as the lads were brilliant.
