Faygate Tournament

After a long season we entered our final tournament of the season, the huge 6 -a-side tournament at Faygate. On one of the warmest days of the year the lads were put into the toughest group with teams such as Horley Town, Faygate and Horsham. We welcomed a couple of new players into the team which included u8 player Mason Wootton, it also saw our centre back and captain Daniel Ritchie play in goal. We went unbeaten in the group stages, only dropping points to Horley Town 0-0 . We finished the group top which meant a semi final v Horsham Tigers where we won 2-0, this set up a final v Worthing Dynamos. We went 1-0 in the first half and it could have got even worse if it wasn't for a penalty save by stand in keeper Daniel Ritchie. With seconds remain Alfred Masterson superbly crafted a goal out of nothing, smashing a shot of the bar and over the line. The extra time ended without any score. Worthing changed their goalkeeper after the final whistle had blow which we all know is against the rules but the referee allowed it. Worthing scored first, up steps Freddie to slot bottom right. Worthing then missed their 2nd penalty dragging wide and Niko stepped up and smashed it top corner to give us the lead. Worthing score next and up stepped MOM in the final Alfred to again smash the ball top corner. The Worthing keeper then stepped up and had his penalty saved by Daniel Ritchie who then himself stepped up to score the winning penalty. It was a great w
