Manager Bob Pyle fielded
probably his youngest starting eleven of the season at the Alderbrook on
Saturday against an experienced, physical and high flying 'Boro side who
were looking to avenge last season's cup loss to Pyle's side.
And avenge they did. The major
difference was the clinical finishing, especially Ross Treleaven who
netted four goals, as 'Boro loked likely to score whenever they ventured
forward, whereas Pyle's side lacked cohesion and invention in the final
third.
Things did look different mid
way through the first half with 'Boro leading by a goal to nil when they
could have been 4 up, before Robbie Gardner whipped home a free kick to
level after 25 minutes.
Oakwood then played some
attractive football and broke free numerous times but the forwards
couldn't find the net unlike Treleaven who was having a personal purple
patch.
Both sides were left aghast by
some of the decisions that halted a game from flowing freely, made even
more scrappy by the ever increasing gusts of wind and intermittent
rainfall.
However that didn't dampen 'Boro's
ambitions as they racked up the goals while the Oaks huffed and puffed
and squandered any chances they did create.
OAKS: KENWARD, HOLMES (AGNEW), RANSON, WELLS,
SEALE, WOOD (BELTON), LANGRIDGE, BUTCHER , GARDNER I, BAKER, GARDNER R (HUNTER).

Oaks reserves came away
pointless after a narrow 1- 0 defeat that had manager Neil Burling
cursing his luck, because had his side taken any one of a hatful of
chances then the scoreline may well have been a reverse of the first
team score.
Time and again the youngsters
tore 'Boro apart, but poor finishing and over zealousness in front of
goal saw the visitors take the points
Oaks reserves had to come back from being 3-1 down with 20 minutes to

OAKWOOD LADIES
Division 3 Champions 2005-06
East Grinstead Netball League Division 2
The ladies came away
victorious on Monday night when they defeated Working Smarter by 27 - 25
despite having to survive a tough last quarter surge.
Despite again missing
key players due to work commitments the team rallied well, and with two
debutants being given starts earlier than they would have expected, the
ladies began the match really strongly.
But having got
themselves into a strong lead the Oaks ladies were forced to dig deep
during the final quarter as Working Smarter scored several points to
close the gap at an alarming rate, but as the summer training was well
attended the fitness began to tell late on.
The Oakwood ladies
managed to retain the ball and limit the scoring for the closing
minutes, also scoring twice themselves to extend the lead and at the end
they managed to maintain a two point winning margin to retain third spot
in the league table. as the pressure
